The colours and texture of a piece of burnt bloodwood firewood caught my attention. It was lying amongst the wood stack awaiting splitting, but the blood sap from the burnt bloodwood gum tree had molten during the 2001 bushfires. It looked like crazed glaze reflecting the blue sky. I photographed this and added detail to become the unique artwork called "Burnt Beauty"
